BinaryWave
This website’s goal is to provide access to and support for a personal computer application that generates the gravitational waveforms produced by an inspiraling binary star system with arbitrary spins. The BinaryWave application uses equations published in Arun, et al., Phys Rev D, 79, 104023 (2009) and Chatziioannou, et al., Phys Rev D 95, 104004 (2017) to model the binary system’s evolution and the gravitational waves it produces to 7/2 post-Newtonian order in the frequency and 3/2 PN in the wave amplitude for a specified time period before the stars actually coalesce. The resulting waveforms can be graphed and/or saved as binary files.
You can download BinaryWave compiled for MacOS, Windows, or Linux (or download the source code if you need to make your own modifications) from the Downloads page. The Theory page provides a thorough discussion of the physics of the model, and the Documentation pages provide detailed information about the objects and methods used in the application. The About Us page describes the research team at Pomona College that constructed this application.
